Ayodhya In Detail

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi is the most revered site in Ayodhya, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram. This sacred place draws millions of devotees each year, who come to seek blessings and witness the grandeur of the newly constructed Ram Mandir, a symbol of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage. The temple is a stunning blend of traditional Indian architecture and divine ambiance, offering a deeply spiritual experience.

Visitors can feel the power of devotion as they stand on the soil considered to be the cradle of Lord Ram’s life. With beautifully crafted idols, spiritual chants, and a peaceful atmosphere, Ram Janmabhoomi is not just a destination—it’s an emotional and divine journey for every Ram bhakt.

Situated atop a small hill, Hanuman Garhi is one of Ayodhya’s most prominent temples dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Pilgrims believe that a visit to Ram Janmabhoomi is incomplete without first seeking blessings at Hanuman Garhi. The temple is known for its 76-step climb, and once you reach the top, you’re greeted with a majestic idol of Lord Hanuman in a child form lying on his mother’s lap.

The temple’s vibrant atmosphere and breathtaking view of the city from the hilltop make it a must-visit. Devotees offer sindoor, sweets, and prayers to the powerful Lord, who is believed to guard Ayodhya. The temple is especially lively during Hanuman Jayanti and Ram Navami celebrations.

Kanak Bhawan is a beautiful palace-turned-temple that holds deep historical and spiritual significance. It is believed to have been gifted to Goddess Sita by Queen Kaikeyi after her marriage to Lord Ram. The temple houses exquisite idols of Ram and Sita adorned with gold ornaments, earning it the name “Kanak” (meaning gold).

The temple’s architecture, intricate artwork, and peaceful aura attract both devotees and tourists. It offers a divine glimpse into the royal life of Lord Ram and Sita, making it a perfect stop for those seeking serenity, beauty, and devotion all in one place.

Dashrath Mahal, also known as Bada Asthan, is one of the most significant and divine sites in Ayodhya. It is believed to be the royal residence of King Dashrath, the father of Lord Ram, and holds a special place in the hearts of devotees and pilgrims. Located near Hanuman Garhi, the palace is said to be the place where Lord Ram spent his early childhood and received his initial education.

The Mahal features beautifully decorated interiors with colorful carvings, sacred idols of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughna, and a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. It is a prominent stop in Ayodhya’s Ramayana circuit and welcomes visitors with devotional music, holy chants, and traditional rituals. Dashrath Mahal is not just an architectural site—it’s a spiritual experience that offers a deep connection to the life and legacy of Lord Ram and his divine lineage.

The Saryu River holds immense religious significance in Hindu mythology and is closely associated with Lord Ram’s story. The ghats along the river, especially Ram Ki Paidi, are popular for holy dips, evening aartis, and serene boat rides. Devotees believe bathing in the Saryu cleanses sins and brings inner peace.

The evening Sarayu  Aarti at Ram Ki Paidi, with oil lamps floating on the river and the sound of conch shells and chants filling the air, is a divine spectacle. It’s a place where faith meets natural beauty, making it a spiritual and scenic retreat.

Varanasi In Detail

Kashi Vishwanath Temple

The Kashi Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and the spiritual heart of Varanasi. This ancient temple, nestled in the winding lanes of the city, attracts millions of devotees and pilgrims who come to worship the powerful deity believed to grant liberation (moksha). The temple has been rebuilt several times over the centuries, with its current structure reflecting a blend of historical resilience and spiritual grandeur.

Surrounded by a divine aura, the temple offers a deeply moving experience with the sound of bells, Vedic chants, and the aroma of incense filling the air. A darshan at Kashi Vishwanath is considered a life-changing event, symbolizing the deep-rooted faith of Sanatan Dharma.

Located near the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Dashashwamedh Ghat is the most spectacular and vibrant ghat on the banks of the Ganga. It is said to be the place where Lord Brahma performed ten Ashwamedha Yajnas. The ghat is famous for the Ganga Aarti, held every evening, where priests perform synchronized rituals with oil lamps and conch shells under the open sky.

Thousands gather daily to witness this divine spectacle, a blend of light, sound, and devotion. The ghat is also a popular spot for boat rides at sunrise, offering breathtaking views of the river and the ancient cityscape.

Just 10 km from Varanasi, Sarnath is a serene and historically significant site where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon after enlightenment. It is a major pilgrimage site for Buddhists around the world and is home to the Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa, and the Ashoka Pillar—all symbols of India’s ancient Buddhist heritage.

The peaceful atmosphere, museum showcasing relics, and lush gardens make Sarnath an ideal place for reflection and spiritual learning. It offers a sharp contrast to the busy ghats of Varanasi, reminding visitors of India’s diverse spiritual history.

Manikarnika Ghat is one of the oldest and holiest cremation grounds in India. According to Hindu belief, those cremated here attain moksha, or liberation from the cycle of rebirth. Though the site may seem intense for some, it is a powerful reminder of life’s impermanence and the core philosophy of Hinduism.

The eternal flame at the ghat has been burning for centuries, and cremations happen here 24/7. Watching the rituals from a respectful distance offers a profound and thought-provoking experience, making it a must-visit for those seeking to understand the deeper spiritual layers of Varanasi.

Founded by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, BHU is not just a renowned educational institution but also a cultural and architectural gem of Varanasi. The sprawling campus houses the New Vishwanath Temple, also known as Birla Mandir, which is an architectural marvel inspired by the original Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

BHU’s tranquil environment, lush greenery, and intellectual vibe make it a unique destination for visitors. The blend of spiritual, cultural, and academic life here reflects the holistic spirit of Varanasi as a city of learning and liberation.
